It's the perfect BIG catfish rod, but is sensitive enough for the smaller 8-10 pounders, as well. His biggest haul using this rod was 60+ pounds. He uses it for both day and night fishing, but the glow feature, at night, is what sets this rod apart. It is very visible without being glaring, like lantern light.
It takes 3 AAA batteries and the batteries have a long life in this rod. We purchased 10 of these rods in July 2009 and have not needed to replace the batteries yet. We gave two of these rods as Christmas gifts, 2010. Makes the perfect gift for the fisherman who has everything.
Highly recommended.
